Sustainable tourism in the Berica Area - Corte delle Giuggiole
Promoting sustainability through local experiences
The Agritourism with accommodation and with educational farm Corte delle Giuggiole has the honor of representing, with its own reality, a fixed point for the knowledge of the environment and for introducing our guests to the cultural and natural beauties of the Berica Area.
In 2022, we participated in the meetings aimed at the Project funded by the Veneto Region and ESF for "Sustainable Tourism in the Berica Area" to explore the state of the art and future prospects of tourism in the Berica Area, where we analyzed the opportunities and prospects for the development of tourism under the banner of sustainability and growth of supply.

We are aware that we live in a strategic area where tourism supply and demand must be more facilitated, also thanks to the contribution of those who welcome tourists from Italy and abroad. To do this, modules have been initiated, also by the Berica Area Municipalities, to activate a sustainable development of the rural territory through the creation of a network of tourist routes in the area that represent the flywheel for the diversification of the rural economy, the recovery of the historical, cultural and environmental heritage, and the qualification of skills and services essential to rural populations.
Tourists can thus find in our reality cultural and food and wine tourism, as well as cycle tourism, which also leads them to embark on the rural routes of the Berici Hills (such as the Altavia dei Berici).

The evolution of our reality in the Cologne area
As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, our Farm with accommodation and Educational Farm called "Corte delle Giuggiole" needed to develop digitization through the implementation on the site of a new strategy to promote its activity. All the more so, considering that the Farm has been serving for more than ten years as a base for the knowledge of the territory in which it is located and is the headquarters of the Wigwam Local Community of Colognese Veneto (Territorial Section of Wigwam Clubs Italia APS - Association of Environmental Protection of national value recognized by Decree of the Ministry of Environment, now of Ecological Transition). It is also located in a position to connect the Veronese territory west of the Berici with the entire Berica Area of Vicenza.
The new offering that Jujube Court intends to propose has themes:
- relational tourism that places our farm as a catalyst of national and even international flows for the nearby Berica Area itself
- proposal of the main cycle-tourist itineraries that affect this area: the Ostiglia-Treviso Cycle Route, whose ancient station in Cologna Veneta is located a few hundred meters from the Farm with accommodation; the Alta Via dei Berici Cycle Route; the cultural itineraries of the Berica plain (GB1)
- starting, stopping or arrival point of the itineraries to the Venetian Villas in the area.
- refreshment and accommodation point at our farmhouse for cyclists who wish to discover the nature and beauty of our place.
The goal is to make visible to the slow tourism public the services and supports offered by Corte delle Giuggiole with full availability for welcoming and discovering the historical aspects of the area.
In addition, through this new approach we intend to extend our educational proposals to special people with disabilities, with the presentation of continuous educational workshops.

GB1 Cycling Route
Just a few kilometers from Corte delle Giuggiole we have the GB1 ROUTE, the new "Wonders of the Berica Plain" cycling route. This is a project strongly desired by FIAB Noventa Girabasse, funded by Gal "Terra Berica" and promoted by the municipalities of Agugliaro, Asigliano Veneto, Campiglia dei Berici, Noventa Vicentina, Orgiano, Pojana Maggiore and Sossano.
The Berica Plain bicycle touring route winds through the plains, through little-used roads and touches the most beautiful and evocative points of the seven towns, including villas, churches, oratories, manor houses, small villages and areas of landscape-environmental interest.
A practical guidebook, full of captivating images, maps and useful information, has also been produced to help the cycling tourist.
In addition, in each of the municipalities involved, the administrations have placed elegant signs, which show the entire itinerary and a map of the country, indicating the points of greatest interest.

Ostiglia - Treviso Cycling Route
The Ostiglia-Treviso Ciclovia, whose old Cologna Veneta station is located a few hundred meters from the Fattoria with accommodation, is a cycle-pedestrian route built on the decommissioned railway that connected precisely Ostiglia (Lombardy) with Treviso (Veneto).
The construction of the railway was conceived before the Great War for strategic purposes by the Italian Army so that troops could be deployed quickly in case of war against Austria-Hungary.
The project was put on hold by the outbreak of World War I, and in the 1920s work was undertaken to build the railway, which was not completed until the early 1940s, in the run-up to World War II. The line was opened by sections: the first section was the Legnago-Cologna Veneta on April 19, 1925.
Only in 1985 did freight operation between Cologna Veneta and Legnago cease, and in 1987 this section was also discontinued. At present, the cycle route from Treviso to Barbarano (VI) is active; the section Barbarano - Cologna Veneta - Legnago - Ostiglia is missing.

Alta Via Berica Cycle Touring Route
The AltaVia is a purely naturalistic itinerary, divided into 11 sections, the future backbone of the so-called slow-tourism and green ways of the Berici Hills. It has been designed for those who love to immerse themselves in nature, face climbs and descents, observe flora and fauna, discover typical masiere, admire solitary capitals and quiet fountains, small villages and isolated contrade, learn about covoli and quarries, and enjoy views of incredible beauty.
From the AltaVia all the other thematic itineraries developed in the Berici Hills as well as the many existing nature trails can start and/or connect, leaving also to each municipality the establishment of a descent from the AltaVia to the village downstream.
Features:
- itinerary intended for hikers, bikers, horses, with the exception of motor vehicles;
- the total length is 130 km, plus a possible descent to the valley already implemented of 10 km, so a total of 140 km, all on municipal or vicinal roads;
- the route deliberately remains as high as possible in altitude and is looped;
- it touches the territory of 17 municipalities
A few kilometers from our agritourism with lodging also passes the ITINERARY OF THE FOUR VILLAS OF PALLADIO, the architect of the 1500s who made the Veneto Renaissance great, bequeathing to us dozens of villas, 24 of which are on the World Heritage list.
From our farmhouse, 7 km by bike, there is the EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL ITINERARY "PASSEGGIANDO AD ALONTE" as well as one of the 11 stages of the Altavia Berica
